What is the main focus of your site?
Our stated focus is to provide quality movie reviews from a common fan's perspective. We try not to go too much into comparing every film with old, obscure films your average person probably hasn't seen. With that said, we both have a deep affinity for those films and I think it comes through in our reviews whether we like it or not. We want our site to be a place the reader can go to get the buzz on the latest movies, DVD releases we think are important, and any movie news that catches the eye.
What are your blogging goals, personally and/or professionally? In other words, what, if anything, are you trying to get out your blog?
John and I have spoken about this quite a bit, actually. I don't think we expect to become famous or anything like that. We do this because we love movies and love writing/speaking about movies. We started the Punch Drunk Podcast as another avenue to express that. I think our general goal is to maybe just be a respected voice in our community on the subject. Anything else that comes along with that is fine by us.
Do you prefer an interactive 'community' for your blog or are you the teacher and your readers are the students?
Definitely interactive community. I've been writing about movies long enough to know that there are millions of different opinions on every single film out there. It's not my place to tell someone what's good, only to give my perspective on what I liked/disliked. I want to know what everybody else thinks just as much.
How long have you been movie blogging for, and how frequent do you post updates to your site?
I've been blogging about movies for a few years now. I wrote movie reviews my college paper for awhile, and did some reviews for a Washington, DC based site that I can't remember the name of anymore. The Punch Drunk Critics site has only been up since about August. We started out slow, with only about half a dozen posts in August and September, but have really been crankin' 'em out this month with 23 posts so far. I think doing the podcast has lit a fire under the both of us.
Name up to three of your favorite movies (and no more).
High Fidelity
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
The Empire Strikes Back.
How did you hear about the LAMB?
We recently joined up with DC Blogs, and I was checking out D.C. Girl's movie page. She had a link to your site, and I checked it out. Seemed interesting and something I definitely wanted to be a part of.
Any additional comments, or give yourself an interview question that's not listed above.
I hope you'll look us over and give us a shot. I would never read an interview that would have me as the subject matter!
