What is the main focus of your site?
Reviews of theatrical and older film releases.
What are your blogging goals, personally and/or professionally? In other words, what, if anything, are you trying to get out your blog?
I am trying to build a library of film reviews and ratings. My reviews are often personal, drawing lines between films and my life in general to show an interwoven relationship between the movies I watch and the experiences I have in daily life. In that way, the reviews function as a sort of diary. Writing the reviews has offered me opportunities to write for other sources and I would like those opportunities to build and continue into the professional realm. In addition to reviews, I am attempting to build a dialogue in the community I live in by lending some attention to the Ottawa film scene.
Do you prefer an interactive community for your blog or are you the teacher and your readers the students?
I encourage an interactive community, making my reviews open for comment and engaging with users who decide to offer their opinions on the movies themselves and/or what I've written about them.
How long have you been movie blogging for, and how frequent do you post updates to your site?
I had been writing reviews sporadically until mid-July of this year, when I began blogging steadily. Since that time I have been updating my site with five reviews per week. I also feature local film news and weekly entries on trailers, and I am making an effort at reviewing one Criterion release per month.
Name up to three of your favorite movies (and no more).
It's a Wonderful Life, American Beauty, Ghost World.
How did you hear about the LAMB?
I came across the LAMB when researching movie blogs on the Internet a few months ago. Since then I have been waiting out the qualifying period to apply. I visit several of the LAMB member blogs and use it as a resource when consulting other film critics.
Any additional comments, or give yourself an interview question that's not listed above.
