What is the main focus of your site?
The focus of the site is to review movies, irrespective of year and genre from a critical theorist position. The blog will not offer any rating for the movies. Nor will the blog indulge in any complete exposition of the plot. The blog will rather take certain thematic and formal element of a movie and analyse that. Hence it is not a complete review of a movie, but a partial analysis of a partial aspect of a movie.
The reviews will also be a means of reflecting on general concerns and non-concerns of life.
What are your blogging goals, personally and/or professionally? In other words, what, if anything, are you trying to get out your blog?
Kaatib is a graduate student in critical humanities, and maintains the blog to both hone his analytical skills as well as hear from readers their varied opinions, approaches and to have a share of their insight.
Do you prefer an interactive community for your blog or are you the teacher and your readers the students?
Kaatib prefers an interactive community, and do not claim to be anymore knowledgeable than any of the readers.
How long have you been movie blogging for, and how frequent do you post updates to your site?
The blog was initially started as a General one, with movie reviews included. But it has now turned into a full time movie blog. Reader can expect updates once in four days.
Name up to three of your favorite movies (and no more).
1) Der Untergang (The Downfall), for its powerful aural and visual juxtaposition of tragedy, desperation and revelry; and also for its compelling narration; 2) The Underground for its political humour; 3) The Discreet Charms of the Bourgeoisie for its satire.
