What is the main focus of your site?
The Top 10 list with a difference. The aim with all our lists is to delve into the films themselves – not just simply note down ten film titles. Retrospective reviews look back at filmmakers, actors, genres and sub-genres and niche markets, time-periods, themes and plotlines and characters, and anything else associated with film. We nostalgically look back at some of our favourite films, stick them into an ordered top 10 list, and write some words to accompany our suggestions.

What are your blogging goals, personally and/or professionally? In other words, what, if anything, are you trying to get out your blog?
As a freelance writer and film critic, Top10Films.co.uk allows me the freedom to write about all the films I love. It allows me to revisit films I haven’t seen for a long time, and it gives me a little outlet to tell the world just why these movies mean so much to me. I hope our contributors get this same sense of satisfaction.

Do you prefer an interactive community for your blog or are you the teacher and your readers the students?
The site was created on the premise that everyone loves a list. They are easy to digest and quick to spark debate. We encourage all our readers to discuss and debate the top 10 lists we publish, and add their comments to our reviews and features. What most top 10 sites feature are lists created by teams or polled votes – our lists are subjective and compiled by a single person. Therefore, not everyone is going to agree with the film choices. Thus, an interactive, open and friendly community of film fans is vital to our success.

How long have you been movie blogging for, and how frequent do you post updates to your site?
I personally started blogging in 2006 following a six year stint as a staff writer for DVD Times. My blog – Strange Conversation – mainly featured reviews, news, features, and editorial content including some academic essays.

Top10Films is my new venture. We publish on an ongoing basis depending on contributions and content. Rest assured though, there’s lots of stuff added every week.

Name up to three of your favorite movies (and no more).
Tough question. I’ll go with Into The Night (Landis), After Hours (Scorsese), The Graduate (Nichols).
