Hello everyone I am Travis McCollum from the Movie Encyclopedia and I'm back with another edition of Trailer Talk Thursday, where I bring you the latest previews to hit the silver screen.
For some reason the idea of death has always fascinated me. Not so much in the actual act of dying but rather what happens after you die. A lot of people use religion to explain that but I wonder if there is a possibility of an in-between. Films have been covering this idea for years and still I find it amazing that they can come up with new and refreshing ideas for the afterlife. Films like The Sixth Sense deal with ghosts, Alfred Hitchcock Presents: Breakdown covers if someone is in a dead sleep but still alive, the highly underrated but poorly acted Awake deals with being dead alive and now we have this:
After.Life is the story of a young girl (played by Christina Ricci) who is involved in a terrible car accident. She wakes up and finds herself on a silver slab getting prepared for a funeral. She thinks he's crazy and plans to hurt her but the funeral director (played by the great Liam Neeson) repeatedly tries to tell her that she is dead and in denial. He explains he has the power to see dead people and that he is there to help her move on. She doesn't like that idea and wants to do something about it. All the while her boyfriend (played by Justin Long) is trying to figure out whether she is really dead or not.
So without further ado here is the trailer:
So what do I think?: Well I can't say no to Liam Neeson and whenever he plays in films with spread out red titles he is amazing. He has such a soothing and calm voice that I could listen to for days. Justin Long is always good and he looks like he'll do good, considering how good he was in his last horror film "Drag Me to Hell." Ricci I have never been a big fan of but she tends to work really well in horror movies so I have high hopes for her. The tone looks good and the mix between Awake, The Invisible and The Sixth Sense seems to work well for this movie. I don't think it'll be an award winner but I like the potential for it to be a good horror/thriller.
But that's just my opinion. Tell me what ya'll think in the comments below. I look forward to reading them. So until next time, this has been T3 (Trailer Talk Thursday)
