LAMB #493 - The Audient

Site Name: The Audient
Categories: Editorials, General
Rating: PG-13
What is the main focus of your site?
My main focus is to discuss how we watch films, as well as making observations on how films are marketed to us, filmmaking trends, etc. My "gimmick," if you will, is to provide the perspective of a film critic -- I've been writing reviews for a film website for ten years, and many of my posts talk about the way critics view films differently from regular people, the problems a critic faces, etc. I guess I allow myself license to talk about any topic in the film world that interests me, but the one thing you won't see are reviews. I've already got a paying gig where I do that, so I don't need to do it here.
What are your blogging goals, personally and/or professionally? In other words, what, if anything, are you trying to get out your blog?
In an ideal world, I'd love for my writing to get the attention necessary to be hired to write paying film commentary, in addition to my relatively low-paying review work. More realistically, I'd like to present my ideas to a like-minded audience and provide a lively forum for discussion in my comments section. I guess I want to be "buzzed
about," in an ideal world, but at the same time I don't consider myself super ambitious, which is why I'm only just making a push to get my blog read by more people after writing it for the past 14 months.
Do you prefer an interactive community for your blog or are you the teacher and your readers the students?
Interactive, absolutely. Comments are the lifeblood of the blogging world. They let us know people are interested, and I always welcome having my own perspective on a topic adjusted.
How long have you been movie blogging for, and how frequent do you post updates to your site?
I have been blogging for a little over 14 months, with the first post coming on January 3, 2009. I post 5-6 times a week.
Name up to three of your favorite movies (and no more).
Donnie Darko, Raising Arizona, Children of Men..
How did you hear about the LAMB?
I clicked on a link to it from another movie blog site, but unfortunately this was over a month ago now, and I can't recall which one. Sorry about that!
Any additional comments, or give yourself an interview question that's not listed above.
None.
