LAMB #424 - The Filmist

URL: http://www.thefilmist.wordpress.com/
Site Name: The Filmist
Categories: Reviews, Essays, Editorials, and so on.
Rating: R. That's not to say that I'm cursin' like a good ol' sailor in every post I write, but if something does get a little heated, then - well, it gets a little heated. Nothing big, or anything.

What is the main focus of your site?
Reviews and criticism of films new and old, that old chestnut. Kind of broad, but - well, there's also some of my own short screenplays, essays and articles and all of that. Oh, just give it a look-see.

What are your blogging goals, personally and/or professionally? In other words, what, if anything, are you trying to get out your blog?
I love film, and I love writing about it. Professionally, I'd love for someone to happen upon my site one day from some local magazine like the Dallas Observer and just be so flummoxed that they hand me a job on the spot - but, well. If that happens, it probably won't be for a while.

Do you prefer an interactive community for your blog or are you the teacher and your readers the students?
Well, ideally, I'd love for it to be roaring and interactive - something akin to Outlaw Vern's lively and familiar comments section. Buuut, my readers are usually very quiet people. I'm always open for a back-and-forth if you've got one on your mind, however.

How long have you been movie blogging for, and how frequent do you post updates to your site?
I've hopped around from short-lived blog to short-lived blog for a couple of year'n, now. But I've been writing under The Filmist for just about a year by now, give or take a month or two.

Name up to three of your favorite movies (and no more).
Mad Max 2/The Road Warrior - George Miller, 1981
Children of Men - Alfonso Cuaron, 2006
Che: Part One/The Argentine - Steven Soderbergh, 2008

How did you hear about the LAMB?
Guy came up to me on the street while I was waiting for the bus one morning, and he says to me, "hey The Filmist (which is what they call me around the neighborhood - first name The, last name Filmist), you know about the LAMB?"

No, I just followed a link to it from Gone Cinema Poaching a little while back, and I said 'what the hey.'

Any additional comments, or give yourself an interview question that's not listed above.
Right now, I'm endeavored in uncovering the missing 'alien' subplot from George Miller's Happy Feet, which I covered at length for the 'Best of the Decade Project' between Match Cuts and Gone Cinema Poaching head-honcho Glenn Heath and myself a little while back. It's very interesting stuff, and hopefully I'll have something up about it very soon. I'mma break this case like Philip Marlowe.
