Site Name: Motion Picture Underground
Categories: Reviews, Editorials/Lists (Top 10 lists, etc.-- I write those kinds of things frequently)
Rating: PG-13 (so far it's completely PG and will most likely stay that way in general, but I listed PG-13 just to be safe)
What is the main focus of your site?
My blog focuses on providing reviews of films- both new and old- from the perspective of a teenage film lover who hopes to one day turn his hobby into a career. I review films of all of the most popular genres and I try to post at least 1 or 2 a week. I also focus on voicing my opinions through the use of "Top 10 Lists" and other "editorials" of the type.
What are your blogging goals, personally and/or professionally? In other words, what, if anything, are you trying to get out your blog?
My hope is to train my ability to review films by constant practice and through feedback, provide recommendations of films to film enthusiasts of all kinds, and give readers a chance to get another opinion on films they have seen or wish to see. Additionally, for myself, I wish to simply exercise my love for films and have fun doing 2 things I love dearly-- watching movies and writing.
Do you prefer an interactive community for your blog or are you the teacher and your readers the students?
While I don't pretend to be an expert and don't wish to consider myself a "teacher" for fear of coming off as condescending, but my blog is primarily a source of my opinion on film more-so than a community. However, I do encourage readers to leave feedback and comments and I ask for their opinions on the subjects I address. As of now, I feel it's unfair to call it an interactive community since I have no readers who regularly interact.
How long have you been movie blogging for, and how frequent do you post updates to your site?
I've been blogging for about a year and a half now. In terms of blogging about movies, I only started in November when I created this blog. As mentioned above, I had trouble finding time to develop a regular posting schedule during the first 2 months of my blog's existence, however, now I feel that it is safe to say that I will have at least one post every week-- more than likely 2-3 on a regular basis, depending on my schedule. I have an active life between a rigorous high school class schedule and my involvement on a travel soccer team, but I do my best to find the time to write.
Name up to three of your favorite movies (and no more).
Fight Club, Memento, Shaun of the Dead.
How did you hear about the LAMB?
I found it through Google when I was in search of ways to get the word out about my blog.
Any additional comments, or give yourself an interview question that's not listed above.
