What is the main focus of your site (reviews, editorials, news, lists, etc.)?The main focus of my blog would be reviews, with the occasional essay on movies in general. (e.g., with regard to genre, the significance of the war in Iraq, how war movies have matured in the last 60 years, the current political climate, and special "in memoriam" pieces whenever an important figure in the world of film dies) My blog would also feature a special Academy Awards section that would run from November to February. Given the chance, I would also publish interviews with actors, writers, and directors.
What are your blogging goals, personally and/or professionally? In other words, what, if anything, are you trying to get out your blog?My long-term blogging goals are the same as my long-term critical goals: to reach as many moviegoers as I can, to give recognition (both good and bad) to film artists who deserve it, and to incite my readers to think about films in ways they have never done before.
Do you prefer an interactive 'community' for your blog or are you the teacher and your readers are the students?As to whether I prefer an interactive blogging community or a take-no-prisoners classroom, my approach would be a balance of the two. I am not a lazy reviewer, nor am I an obnoxious pedant. Rather, I see myself as the online equivalent of a radio talk-show host who captures his listeners' attention, states his own opinion on a given topic, and invites callers to respond in kind.
How long have you been movie blogging for, and how frequent do you post updates to your site?Not answered.
Name up to three of your favorite movies (and no more).Here comes the big challenge, to name three of my favorite movies and no more. I thought the staff at
Sight and Sound had it rough when they were called upon to name the ten greatest films ever made for the December 1970 issue of their magazine. That pales like Bengkt Ekerot's makeup in
The Seventh Seal in comparison to this call of reviewer's duty! Nevertheless, I heed the call with pleasure.
