Director's Chair #9: Day Three

LAMBs in the Director's Chair
Event #9 starring Sidney Lumet
July 28th to 30th of 2010

The time has arrived for the last day of Director’s Chair #9 and we have a few movie reviews that I have promised to everyone yesterday. There are three films that have been reviewed for today, which are Serpico (1973), The Wiz (1978), and Dog Day Afternoon (1975). Each one of these three films has garnered plenty of praise and criticism in their own respective rights. If you have not seen any of them, I would recommend them to you. On an editorial side note, I would like to ask a question to those of you who have seen The Wiz. Am I the only who had seen it as a kid and was scared out of their wits by Mabel King’s performance as Evillene, the bad witch? Without wasting too much more of your time blabbering incessantly with the introductions I present to you the first couple of reviews for the film Serpico which stars Al Pacino in the leading role.

Well that concludes the ninth installment of the Director’s Chair series. Make sure to keep your eyes and ears open for the announcement of the candidate for the tenth installment of the series.

LAMBs in the Director's Chair
Event #9 starring Sidney Lumet
July 28th to 30th of 2010

Welcome to the second day of the Director’s Chair event where we are taking an intriguing look at Sidney Lumet’s career as a film director. In the first day of the event, there were a couple of reviews for such film titles as Before the Devil Knows You're Dead (2007) and Murder on the Orient Express (1974). Scheduled for today there will be a few more film reviews that I hope you will enjoy reading. Let me begin with a link to an overview page from the site Dave’s Movie Reviews. If you are unfamiliar with Sidney Lumet’s work in film you will definitely need to check this list out first and foremost. Listed in reverse chronological order is a large number of his most revered work included several of the titles that are linked to film reviews.

One film review that is published on Dave’s Movie Reviews that was not directly linked in the overview page is Equus (1977). Here is a link to the wandering movie review.

In case you are not satisfied with all of the horsing around (pun intended) there is another review of the film available over at the Film Forager website.

After covering the film yesterday it may be worthwhile for a second visit to the movie Before the Devil Knows You're Dead.

Just as I had promised to everyone at the end of the article yesterday, I would direct your attention to a review for a film that will make you “mad as hell.”

What did you say? I bet that review did not make you mad as hell. How about sitting in a room with twelve angry men as a substitute?

Make sure to stay tuned, because in the third and final day we will rob, travel, and sing. Oh, my word!

Director's Chair #9: Day One

LAMBs in the Director's Chair
Event #9 starring Sidney Lumet
July 28th to 30th of 2010

It is a bit of a surprise to me with the low turnout for the current installment of the Director’s Chair series. There are only seventeen submissions this time around, which is a tremendous decrease in participation in comparison to the forty-four articles that were submitted for Event #8. I am not sure why there is a sudden drop in numbers, but it does not signify in difference in the quality of articles that I have for you to read over the next couple of days. The linked articles for today include four movie reviews that have been sent in from two of our participants. I hope you enjoy reading them. In addition, I will temporarily extend the deadline for submission for the current Director’s Chair series. If you happen to have an article or review regarding any of the directorial films from Sidney Lumet, please submit a direct link to the article by e-mail to mattehavoc@gmail before midnight tonight.

Hey everyone it is D.J. Heinlein from the blog site Matte Havoc. The time has come to announce the ninth candidate of the LAMBs in the Director’s Chair series. He is a director who has brought us several classic films including a story about twelve angry men, a determined southern politician, an adaptation of a famous play from Eugene O’Neill, and a television executive who is mad as hell and not going to take it anymore. The ninth candidate is the versatile director Sydney Lumet. Very few directors are able to helm such a wide range of films from different styles and perform at a successfully talented level. It is a primary reason why he has been selected for this event. For those who would like to see a complete list of films he has directed you should swing on over to his IMDb profile page to see the list of titles. I would like to point out that he has a list of productions that were made for television. Any reviews of the made-for-television movies he has directed will be accepted for this event. Do not forget to consider writing an editorial about his career to add a little bit of freedom in the types of articles you can submit for the Director’s Chair event. Also, for the convenience of promoting the event I have included below a few promotional banners (along with the appropriate HTML code) that can be copied and placed on to your website. In addition, it would be rude of me not to offer a bit of public recognition to Alex from Film Forager who has designed the promotional banners for us. She has produced the banners for the last couple of events and has been producing fabulous material. Make sure to check out her website when you have a moment to spare: www.filmforager.com
