Hey everyone it is I, DJ Heinlein from Matte Havoc. The time has arrived to announce the candidate who will be the focus of the next installment of the LAMBs in the Director’s Chair event. Would the candidate really need a proper introduction? In my opinion, it would be completely over the top to introduce one of the living legends in American filmmaking. While hard at work, he wears many different hats. He is a writer, a director, a producer, and the heavyweight champion of film preservation. This could serve as an absolute bare bones description of the contribution he has made to the industry. Long time film critic and fellow preservationist Roger Ebert has developed a man crush on him. In fact, Ebert has gone so far as to write an entire book focusing upon his films. With this sort of an introduction, I would be referring to no one else other than Martin Scorsese. For the next Director’s Chair event that has been slated for the end of April, we will be taking a closer look at the films, which he has directed during his career. Recently he has released the film Shutter Island (2010), so make sure you send in your review for that film if you have one available.
Would you like to participate in this event? It is easy to do. The event is a three-day blogathon that focuses upon the career of a single director, or occasionally on two directors in the same event. All participants must be a contributor to a blog site that is currently listed as an active LAMB site. The direction and style of every submitted article can be written at the discretion of every participating writer. That primary catch would be the intention that the subject matter of the article has to be immediately connected to the director that has been selected for the event. Example articles can be a review of any of the films he or she has directed, or even a broad editorial about his career or various elements that appear in multiples works that he or she has directed. Do not limit yourself to writing and submitting a single film review for this event. Publish as many different articles as you can possibly muster up the energy to write. To submit the material that you would like to have included in the event please send in a direct link to every single article that should be live on your blog site before the start of the event. The links can be e-mailed to DJ Heinlein at mattehavoc@gmail.com. If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions about the event, please e-mail those to the same address listed for the article submissions. In addition, before I forget there is a deadline to submit the articles. Please have them sent in by e-mail no later than 10 PM on Tuesday, April 27!
