PLUG: Hugo Stiglitz Makes Movies

Attention fellow movie buffs and horror aficionados: Announcing the Italian Horror Blog-a-Thon running from October 19 – 31 here at Hugo Stiglitz Makes Movies. Here’s what to do: watch an Italian horror movie and write about it. Send me an email or leave me the link in the comments section here and I will post it starting October 19th. Of course I will pimp your site properly…all I ask is that you do the same for me. More info after the jump...

There are some great posts planned by me and other bloggers…so come join the party on October 19th and see what’s in store for the two weeks leading up to Halloween night. If you love horror films but have never seen an Italian horror and what to contribute to the project I suggest starting with gialli like Mario Bava’s Bay of Blood or Argento’s Deep Red; or how about the ethereal supernatural horror of Argento’s beautiful Suspiria or Lucio Fulci’s The Beyond…or you if you’re a zombie fan you can always go with the popular gore-fest Zombi 2 by Fulci, or the wonderfully campy Nightmare City by Umberto Lenzi. There will be tons of links leading you to great Italian horror thoughts for two solid weeks, so don’t miss what will truly be a fun and interesting celebration of my favorite subgenre.

If you’d like to participate by helping me promote this thing then please click on one of the jpegs below and put it up on your site somewhere…all I ask is that you please link it back to this post. Thanks. I look forward to seeing you all on the 19th (another reminder will come a few days before the blog-a-thon kicks off), and don’t forget if you’re interested in participating leave a comment or send me an email.

* A special thank you to Greg of Cinema Styles for doing the amazing sidebar banners. Thanks a bunch, Greg.

Thanks everyone for your interest...whether you're helping me out big time by contributing, or if you're helping me out big time by promoting this thing I really appreciate it. I look forward to reading some great entries.

Got a Press Release, something to Plug, or a Screener available for review (or some combination of the three)? Ok, well don't get all crazy about it. Just click here and give me the details - I'll handle the rest.

LAMB #310 - Hugo Stiglitz Makes Movies

URL: http://kolson-kevinsblog.blogspot.com/
Site Name: Hugo Stiglitz Makes Movies
Categories: General: My site covers all things film with a special affinity for Italian Horror.
Rating: PG-13

What is the main focus of your site?
The main focus to my site is to share my amateur musings on film, frequently focusing specific attention on the Italian Horror sub-genre. Really I just love film and want to write about it.

What are your blogging goals, personally and/or professionally? In other words, what, if anything, are you trying to get out your blog?
My blogging goals are pretty selfish actually...I write for me. It's a great outlet, and about three years ago I wasn't writing at all, I was sick of it; but lately, thanks to the blog, I've found the joy and passion for writing about film that I used to have as a teenager. I don't think about my blog as a professional site, I rarely seek out publicity, so I guess it's a testament to the quality of the blog (if I may pat my own back for a second) that any readership I've acquired over the years has come with zero promoting or advertising on my part. I comment on other peoples blogs because I like what they write, and I want to talk about film, not to rack up the hits to my own blog.

Do you prefer an interactive community for your blog or are you the teacher and your readers are the students?
Interactive all the way. I give my opinions in traditional reviews, but the real conversation doesn't begin until people start commenting. I comment to every person specifically in hopes of fostering a blog where serious film lovers can come and talk about movies.

How long have you been movie blogging for, and how frequent do you post updates to your site?
I've been blogging for about a year now, and I post something around every three or four days, depending on my work schedule. I'm a teacher, so in the summer there is usually a post every other day.

Name up to three of your favorite movies (and no more).
8 1/2, Vertigo, Pulp Fiction.

How did you hear about the LAMB?
Through some of my favorite blogs like: Final Girl, Film for the Soul, and Lazy Eye Theater.

Any additional comments, or give yourself an interview question that's not listed above.
I have a great group of readers who like my blog and deliver great, awe-inspiring comments. I count myself lucky that so many great writers like my blog enough to read what I have to say, let alone leave great comments. Nothing on my blog is ever self-aggrandizing, and that's what I try to get across -- film writing should not be self-indulgent, it should be celebratory...oh, and I never take myself too seriously.
