LAMBLOG-A-THON: DIGITAL CINEMA

LAMBLOG-A-THON

There's been a lot in the news about SLUMDOG MILLIONARE these past few months. A parent trying to sell one of the main actors, the producers stiffing the poor kids from their cut of the profits, but the most interesting thing about the picture, to me at least, is the fact that it won the Academy Award for best cinematography.

The odd thing is, this "film" was shot digitally.

This May, I'm starting a movement. It's called
Digital Cinema Awareness Month
and you're all invited to participate.

For this LAMBLOG-A-THON I want posts about the
digital cinema revolution in the motion picture world.
Do you hate it? Do you love it?
What does it mean for distribution?
How is it superior/inferior to film based productions?
I want to know what you think.

LAMBLOG-A-THON: FILMIC TV

Hello. It's Joe Campanella here back with another
LAMBLOG-A-THON.
Yes, I know, I've been gone for a while but now I'm back,
with a vengence, as they say.

One thing I've been doing on my hiatus from film blogging
(besides making a movie) is watching
a lot of TV on DVD, something I'd never really done before.
See, I didn't really care for the way
TV was written, shot or acted. But to my suprise,
there were more than a handful of television
shows that have flown by my radar that
are better than most films out at the theatre.
This got me thinking, how can I use the lamblog-a-thon to my advantage?
Then it came to me...I'll have you guys suggest more great television!

This month, write about your
favorite TV show that's got a filmic vibe.
It could be any show you want and you
can spin the term "filmic vibe" to mean anything you want.
The blog-a-thon will be held from
April 20th-23rd right here on the LAMB.

LAM-BLOG-A-THON: PART IV: THE FINAL CHAPTER

It's cold here in Chicago, so I was hoping 
Punxsutawney wouldn't see his shadow
 this year but that little bastard promised me 
6 more weeks of winter.

After getting over this terrible news I thought, 
what better thing to talk about for this months 
LAMBLOGATHON!!!

For all the rest of you, here are the rules of month...

It seems this damn groundhog really likes to pay attention to his own shadow, so I suppose we should pay attention to the shadows within films we love. For this months Lamblogathon, I'd like you all to write up a little bit on your favorite shadow ever used in a movie. It can be a series of shadows, one in particular, or a film that uses shadows with great effect.

Hello everyone. A little late this time. Sorry about that. 
With the New Year and my birthday on the 5th 
I was a little busy as you can see by this photograph...
But I'm here nonetheless with this month's

To be quite honest, the reason for choosing this subject is based purely on my own curiosity. I hope Fletch doesn't mind me using the L.A.M.B as my own personal survey, but I think this subject is plenty interesting. Whether you're for or against them, remakes have become a phenomenon that film lovers can't ignore. It seems like they're remaking everything nowadays from classic films, both obscure and famous to modern indies such as BAD LIEUTENANT.

What's your take on this my fellow LAMBs. I'd like to know.

L.A.M.Blog_A_THON: VOLUME TWO


Happy Holidays everyone! It's time for another L.A.M.BLOGATHON!!!

in which we are to blog about.

Seeing as this month is December, the official holiday month, the assignment is as follows....
WRITE ABOUT YOUR FAVORITE SCENE IN A HOLIDAY FILM.


That's right. We're not making it easy by letting you
write about your favorite holiday film. You have to pick a certain scene.
Now, of course, the rules can be bent. If you feel like naming your all time
favorite scenes for example, feel free.

I'll be posting these links here on the L.A.M.B. starting
December 15 and the Blog-a-Thon will continue to the 17th.

That's December 15-17th.

You can email me the link anytime before that too.

L.A.M.Blog_A_THON: EPISODE ONE "WHO ARE YOU THANKFUL FOR?"

Hello all. Joe Campanella here. About a week ago I was contacted by a certain Fletch to do a certain post, on a certain website, named after a certain animal. The post was to be used in order to start a new feature here on the L.A.M.B. which shall be called...

THE L.A.M.BLOG_A_THON!
See, a while back I started a blog called FILM-A-THON, which some seemed to enjoy, but most seemed to ignore, myself included. The general idea was to have a weekly blog-a-thon about all things film.
After a few weeks of quasi-participation (thanks to DEAR JESUS, COOSA CREEK CINEMA, USE SOAP FILM and HE SHOT CYRUS) I decided to put the kibosh on the FILM-A-THON.
A couple months later Fletch had the idea of a monthly blog-a-thon (held here on the L.A.M.B.)suggested to him by Paul from CAREFUL WITH THAT BLOG, EUGENE (a great site by the way!) A few emails later and I was asked to head up this wonderful feature.
So, let's get right down to it, shall we?
At the beginning of every month, check here on the L.A.M.B. for the subject matter in which we are to blog(a-thon) about.
Write up a post on the given subject and send the link to LAMBLOGATHON@gmail.com
Then, in the middle of the month, I'll post the links, much like a regular blog-a-thon, here on the L.A.M.B.
Sounds easy enough, no?
Now onto this months subject....
"WHO ARE YOU THANKFUL FOR?"
In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I thought that this month should be dedicated to film professionals whom we are all thankful for. The catch is, it can't be a director or actor. Those cats just get too much love already, don't you think?
With these posts you can focus on anyone working in the film industry from any time period from any country that isn't a director or actor. It is okay, though, if the person has done both directing and acting, so long as your post acknowledges their exceptional work in another part of the filmmaking process.
Example: You could write about GENE WILDER, but not as an actor or director. You must focus on his writing.
So there you go. Send me the links to your posts anytime before November 15th. I will start putting them up, here on the L.A.M.B. from November 13th-15th.
