The entire month of September This Guy Over Here is hosting a Charlie Chaplin/Jacques Tati blog-a-thon! In honor of the two filmmaker's retrospectives that are showing at the famous The Silent Movie Theater in Los Angeles, courtesy of The Cinefamily, This Guy Over Here will be dedicated to the Tramp and Chaplin's other colorful characters as well as M. Hulot and the brilliance of Jacques Tati.

PLUG: This Guy Over Here

This Guy Over Here is a site dedicated to the best and most noteworthy films of the 21st century. Unfortunately not every film can receive the label as "best". So in an attempt to further the content of the website, as well as providing something unique, This Guy has been releasing his private Viewing Journals as monthly issues.

Now released is Issue #8: August 2010 which contains films like Winter's Bone, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, Animal Kingdom, The Ghost Writer, Salt, Flipped, The Kids Are All Right, and many more!

LAMB Leaderboard updated for May!

A meteoric ascent has seen a certain guy go from not ranked two months ago to runner-up last month, and now This Guy Over Here has claimed the top of the leaderboard as His Place. Congratulations!

A pretty normal month for new/returning entrants, with five sites joining or re-joining the ranks of the leaderboard. Meanwhile, still a scant three generic banners over there, again from some newer LAMBs (heck, one of them - The Horror Digest - has yet to even have their profile posted. Awesome!).

Speaking of LAMB Banners, we were back on the gravy train with new ones received in the past month, with seven more added to the Gallery. Now hanging are the banners for Thrilling Days of Yesteryear, Screen Insight, Peter Eramo's Magic Lantern Film Blog, The Ludovico Technique, Just Plain Something, Undy a Hundy, and Zombots! Thanks to those sites. Their banners have also been inserted into the Random LAMB Banner box.

LAMBcast #17

Back so soon? Yes, we LAMBcasters have been a busy group lately, haven't we?

We now present you with a "special" episode in which we count down some of our favorite foreign (language) films (our primary language being English...kind of). I think I can safely say that of all the LAMBcasts yet, this is the one you don't want to miss. On hand were a gang of fools, from Nick Jobe to Mike Mendez to Jason Soto to This Guy and myself. We laughed, we cried, we broadened our horizons. That's followed up by a couple games of Last LAMB Standing and some Trailer Talk, in which we discussed Scott Pilgrim vs. the World and the epic Weird Al biopic.

It should also be noted that this one's a bit bluer than usual, so use those headphones if there be kids around.

While not the longest podcasting session, host Jason Soto presided over what turned out to be the longest single episode of the LAMBcast (the other one was so long it was split into two), and all because of a fat guy named Kevin. Jason was joined by Nick, Tom, This Guy, and Tom's countryman (and future LAMB, I'm told) Brett as they dissect the works and wisdom of the Clerks auteur. Stay tuned after the credits once more for some more bonus material, this time in the guise of the infamous "Lost" Last Man Standing game.

What is the main focus of your site?
To seek out the best films of the 2000s. Since I'm only one person though, I realize it's more of a favorites site than a 'best of' site.

What are your blogging goals, personally and/or professionally? In other words, what, if anything, are you trying to get out your blog?
I feel like this is a canned answer, but I'm really doing it for myself. I'd be doing it even if weren't online (in fact, I do in numerous capacities.) I just love writing about movies, and eventually when I feel I've seen the amount of movies necessary to write my eBook, I will.

Do you prefer an interactive community for your blog or are you the teacher and your readers are the students?
I would love discussions on the films I write about. I've only had a small amount of interactivity though.

How long have you been movie blogging for, and how frequent do you post updates to your site?
My current site for about three months, but I've had movie blogs in the past dating back to 2006. I update the current site twice a day.
